Hydrogen Energy

This is the second hydrogen power project you are developing – is it the same or does it differ?

The HECA project differs from our other project in Abu Dhabi insofar as the Abu Dhabi plant would use natural gas in a reformer to create streams of hydrogen and carbon dioxide.  In contrast HECA would gasify petroleum coke (or blends of petcoke and coal, as needed).  The two projects are similar in that both use pre-combustion capture technology for the CO2, meaning a hydrogen-rich fuel is used in the power turbines.  Both projects also envisage the CO2 being used to enhance oil recovery and be permanently stored in a geological formation.
