How will the CO2 be injected?

The CO2 will be compressed on site and transported by pipeline to the oil field and injected either down an existing well or a newly drilled well. In the oil field, CO2 makes the oil flow more easily and quickly to the production wells.

Any CO2 produced along with the oil is separated from the liquid at site and re-injected back into the formation where it continues to improve oil recovery and is ultimately stored.  In this process, the CO2 is not released to the atmosphere—the entire system is self-contained.
