HECA Press Release

Hydrogen Energy California Delivers $15,000 to West Kern County Community Programs for Summer 2010

Long Beach, CA -- May 17, 2010– As part of Hydrogen Energy California’s tri-annual community giving program that supports Kern County communities, HECA is funding several programs aimed at West Kern County’s youth. The Company has recently donated $15,000 to local schools, scholarships and programs.

The beneficiaries include the Tupman School’s Science field trip to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, the Buttonwillow School’s annual Science Camp, a College Scholarship for a West Kern County graduate through the Buttonwillow Chamber of Commerce, a donation to the Alpha House women shelter and a grant to California State University’s Geology Department to fund a student research project on Carbon Capture Storage.

“HECA is continuing the permitting process and engineering work for our proposed low emissions Hydrogen Energy power project for Kern County,” said Tiffany Rau, Policy and Communications Manager for Hydrogen Energy California. “We have focused our most recent community giving on youth in West Kern County as they will be the future generation involved in the operation of this pioneering new facility.”

About the HECA (Hydrogen Energy California) project:

Hydrogen Energy California (HECA) has proposed a new hydrogen-powered electricity generating facility in West Kern County that would capture and sequester 90% of its carbon emissions. This facility will transform solid fossil fuels into hydrogen that will be used to generate electricity for over 150,000 Californian homes. The HECA process will capture over 2 million tons of CO2 per year and sequester it deep underground. By injecting the CO2 into the partially depleted Elk Hills Oil fields the project will enhance the recovery of additional oil, adding to US domestic energy supplies.
